POP UP PITTSBURGH! Uptown on the Move!

PopUpLogo

On Saturday May 30th, nearly 1000 people gathered in Uptown Pittsburgh to celebrate and experience the neighborhood's current assets and future potential. Working closely with the Uptown Partners, 43 emerging leaders from Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.'s Leadership Development Initiative program designed and implemented a community festival called POP UP PITTSBURGH! Uptown on the Move! that spanned Gist, Locust and Miltenberger streets and 12 separate locations within the "superblock". Programming was developed with community input, and included activities for children and families, residents and newcomers, young and old. Happenings included art exhibitions, live music, a theatrical premiere, residential open houses, an Uptown oral history project, a local food cook-off, family activities (in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum, Venture Outdoors and The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh) and much more.

LPI Reconnecting Event with Past 5 Classes of LP and LDI

As we said goodbye to LP XXV and LDI XVI over the past month, we realized, once again, the need to connect back with them over something fun.

So, with encouragement from our board and help from the LPI team, we organized just such an event on Tuesday, July 14th at Bricolage.  For this “Stay Connected” event, we invited LDI XIII through XVI and LP XXII through XXV---the cohorts who had a chance to work with Kathy Risko, our Senior Program Manager. Kathy is starting to work on her Ph.D. full time - we will miss her so very much but are also very thankful to her for her contributions to LPI and proud of her continued development. Thanks to all of you who came out – it was a great chance to network with former classmates and meet new people. Plus, thanks to the great feedback we received, we are planning on hosting more events like these to incorporate the wider LPI network!
