We are pleased to welcome Rick Koch, LPI Administrative & Operations Assistant to our team. Rick brings with him strong experience in operations support via his past work at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Kidney Clinic at University Center, the University of Pittsburgh's Computing Service and Systems Development Department, and the University of Pittsburgh's German Department. In his current role, Rick provides administrative support for the entire LPInc. Team and logistically supports both the Leadership Pittsburgh and Leadership Development Initiative Programs. **************

On
October 9th and 10th, the 52
Participants of Leadership Development Initiative
XVII met at Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Zelienople for
their Opening Retreat. The
class spent the two days getting to know one
another (and falling down on each other during the
low ropes course!), exploring their Myers-Briggs
personality types, understanding what makes a STAR
Performer and being introduced to their Community
Impact Project: POP UP PITTSBURGH! Retreat
facilitators included Dr. Jean Ferketish, LP
XVI,
Ph.D.,
Secretary to the Board and Assistant Chancellor,
University of Pittsburgh and David Binder,
Principal Consultant, Avid Learner.

Pittsburgh Middle East Institute Sponsors Two Days of Conference Events The Pittsburgh Middle East Institute brings reknowned journalist Fareed Zakaria to Pittsburgh on Oct 13 at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Tickets are $50 and $70. The following day, events continue with the group's business conference seminar, "Building the Green City: Energy Sustainability & Green Technologies." The Keynote Address will be delivered by His Excellency Badr Hamad Hamood Al Busaidi, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman with an introduction by Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh Mark Nordenberg.
