Sarah Miele serves as Program Manager for the Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) program. The LDI program engages 50 of our region’s top emerging high-potential professionals each year from the corporate, civic and non-profit sectors in a unique, skills/capacities-based experience that is part of many organizations’ talent management strategy. Additionally, Sarah manages special projects for alumni engagement including board matching through the Leadership OnBoard (LOB) program and helping to coordinate alumni gatherings – including Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.’s largest alumni engagement event held each January – The Champagne Lunch.
Sarah joined the Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. team in the summer of 2013. Prior to her role as Program Manager, Sarah served as the Special Projects Assistant for Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. Through her previous role she was responsible for supporting the coordination of the Leadership Development Initiative program, organizing a partnership program with the Allegheny Conference on Community Development called Executive Welcome. Sarah also served as the primary liaison with the Leadership Development Initiative programs incoming class for their PopUp! Pittsburgh Campaign.
Prior to joining LPI, Sarah attended Penn State University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Life Science with a minor in Economics. Throughout her time spent at Penn State Sarah became highly involved in Penn State Dance Marathon (THON). Sarah served as the Family Relations Chairperson for THON 2013. Alongside her 14 Executive Committee counterparts, she was responsible for leading 15,000 fellow Penn State student volunteers in the yearlong fundraising and awareness campaign to conquer childhood cancer. THON 2013 raised over $12.4 million for the Four Diamonds Fund, an organization that supports children and families effected by pediatric cancer. Sarah remains dedicated to the cause and is a member of the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Sarah enjoys experiencing all that Pittsburgh has to offer especially exploring what has been newly developed during her time spent away at Penn State. Sarah typically spends her down time with friends and family, running, watching movies, and attending both Pittsburgh and Penn State sporting events, especially football games.
